The Margate Museum

The building itself is a living example of the history of the town and careful inspection of the architecture of this Grade II listed building provides extensive evidence of Margate's development as a town. The Museum is home to iron Age skeletons, Roman remains, Punch and Judy puppets, seaside donkeys, sea bathing and other seaside ephemera. Set over two floors, the Museum is home to the Rowe Collection, Parker Bequest, Old Margate Borough Collection, pictures, prints, engravings, civic paintings and the wonderful Sunbeam Photographic Collection. The Museum's wide-ranging collection provides unique insight into the development of the town, and the people who have lived there, from it's earliest beginnings to the present day.
