Hong Kong Pools That Will Take Your Breath Away

Summer in Hong Kong is a scorching affair. Whether you choose to beat the heat with junk trips and afternoons at the beach or prefer to take it easy in one of Hong Kong’s beautiful hotel pools, there’s something for everyone.

Besides the world’s highest pool, Hong Kong boasts plenty of gorgeous swimming spots, whether you fancy a plunge in an infinity pond high up on a mountain or a refreshing dip in a crystal-clear water fish pond. We’ve rounded up some of the city’s best pools that will take your breath away.

While public and government-run pools tend to be quite crowded during the summer, the ones at deluxe hotels are the way to go. They’re often bigger than the average pool and offer top-notch facilities, impressive views, and a range of dining options. You can even book a staycation package that includes access to the pool and enjoy a semi-private day in the water.

With a rooftop swimming pool overlooking the towering skyscrapers of Mongkok and another surrounded by the lush greenery of Victoria Park, this posh hotel is a pool lovers’ dream. You’ll need to get there early if you want to swim some laps without interruption and nab yourself a lounger by the water, but it’s worth it. You can also order a cocktail or two from the poolside bar, chill by the waterfalls, and enjoy the sweeping view of the city.

The largest outdoor pool in the city, this vast complex is located in Wong Chuk Hang and offers a variety of swimming pools for all ages and abilities. Swim some laps in the main pool, practise your diving skills in the dive pool, or let the kids have a splashing good time in the two kid-friendly pools with water features and sprinklers.

This new pool, completed in 2017, is a welcome addition to Kennedy Town’s waterfront area. It was built on the site of an existing swimming pool to provide a much-needed alternative for residents and visitors alike. Despite its relatively recent opening, this pool has already become a popular attraction with many locals.

Public pools in Hong Kong are usually staffed by lifeguards who can be identified by their yellow armbands. The pool entrance fee is HK$19, but you can purchase monthly tickets at a discounted rate. A refundable deposit of HK$5 is required for lockers, or you can bring your own padlock to secure your belongings. You can check out the list of all pools and their opening hours on the Leisure and Cultural Services Department’s website.
