The Hongkong Prize Ceremony

The hongkong prize is a science and technology innovation award sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. The prize recognizes outstanding scientific researchers/teams in Hong Kong. The award fields include Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Life and Health, New Materials and New Energy, Advanced Manufacturing, and FinTech. Each awardee will receive a cash prize of HK$2 million, a certificate, and a trophy.

The prize aims to promote research in Hong Kong by encouraging young scientists to further their studies and to take up the challenge of innovation. It also serves as a platform to introduce their achievements and influence to the public. In addition, the prize will help to build up a pool of outstanding scientific researchers in the city and enhance Hong Kong’s status as a world-class research centre.

This year, the prize has expanded to include research institutions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The organising committee is confident that the expanded nomination scope will encourage more scientific researchers to apply their discoveries and technologies in this important region.

As a result, the HK prize will be able to make more awards. The winning team will be rewarded with a total of HK$5,000,000 in prize money and will be able to continue their research on the HK Prize-winning idea for the next two years.

Winners of the HK Prize will be informed of their prize collection arrangements by phone. They will need to provide their original Hong Kong identity documents for verification. If the prize is not claimed within a month, it will be awarded to the next winner on the waiting list.

During the awards ceremony, the winners will be introduced by an international panel of judges and a video clip featuring their work will be shown. The winning team will also be given an opportunity to demonstrate their invention at the event. The event is free and open to the public.

The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Wagner’s Ring Cycle and other works at the event. The HK Phil expresses its heartfelt thanks to all its supporters including the Hong Kong SAR Government, Principal Patron the Swire Group, and music-lovers around the world. They have helped to make this special performance a reality. It will be an unforgettable experience for all of us.
