Roulette has many different bets, each with its own payout. Some bets are even money, meaning that if you win the house gives you half of your winning wager back. The odds of this bet are 1-1. The Dozens Bet, which is also known as a Passe or Manche bet, is similar to the Line Bet but with a much higher payout. The odds of this bet are 2-1.
The roulette wheel is a circular disk with 36 compartments painted alternately red and black, plus a green 0 and a green 00 on American-style wheels. The rim of the wheel is lined with metal partitions, or frets, and these are separated by rows of small slots or pockets that mark the various bets. Each of these pockets is numbered and colored differently, so they are easily identified by a croupier. The croupier spins the wheel, and the ball is spun into a compartment where it lands to determine the winning bet.
